About The Hydrogen Hub Initiative
A coalition of Kansas public entities and private partners have applied for federal funding to make Kansas a regional hub in the emerging hydrogen economy.
HARVEST Hydrogen, Inc. has applied for funding through the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs program by the U.S. Department of Energy. HARVEST Hydrogen, which has two subrecipients -- the University of Kansas and a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources -- seeks to deploy a multi-billion-dollar program through a combination of private sector investments and DOE funding to accelerate the development of a clean hydrogen economy in the geographic and agricultural center of the country.
About HARVEST Hydrogen
HARVEST Hydrogen is a Kansas-based non-profit organization formed to accelerate the development of energy systems – including hydrogen – in the geographic center and agricultural heart of the United States. The name stands for Hydrogen, Agriculture, Renewables, Vehicles, Energy, Storage and Transportation, which are critical economic growth sectors throughout the Kansas and the Midwest. HARVEST will facilitate energy growth and diversification opportunities across the region and advance education and workforce development initiatives in partnership with Kansas communities. The organization is currently led by interim CEO Jay Kalbas, who also serves as director of the Kansas Geological Survey at KU.
